If you've been watching "Friday Night Lights"(Wednesday NBC 7), then I don't need to tell you that this week is the season finale. This show, which I originally doubted could hold my interest for the season, has turned out to be one of the best dramas on TV.
While the ratings have not been good, the press likes the show and it will most likely be picked up for a second season(we won't find out for sure until the upfronts in May). The show is still available for free online at nbc.com but I am hoping that NBC uses the early season finale wisely. The show should continue to air on Bravo throughout the summer, but I would love to see them re air the entire season in primetime over the summer and promote the hell out of it during May sweeps. I think another great way to build an audience would be to release the DVD as soon as possible. Most shows release the DVD of the most recent season in August or September shortly before the new season starts. Releasing Friday Night Lights in June or July(with heavy promotion during sweeps) would allow many more fans to have time to catch up with the show.
"King Of Queens"(Monday CBS 8:30) is coming to an end, but even I barely noticed that it was gone. There are 5 episodes left of what used to be a very funny show, but with schedule changes and few quality comedies to be paired with on CBS, the show lost viewers and support from CBS. The finale will air on May 14th and I am looking forward to seeing how the show will wrap up.
Instead of waiting till the last minute, I will get ahead of the upcoming marathons on Sci-Fi. First there is the "Battlestar Galactica" marathon, all 20 Season 3 episodes will air on May 16-18. Then on May 19th will be a "Heroes" marathon to catch you up just before the finale on NBC May 21st. Heroes returns April 23th and you can watch all episodes online now.
"American Idol"(Tuesday FOX 7) seriously needs to stop tormenting me and bring on the greatest episode ever. I am not talking about Sanjaya getting the boot, although it will be funny to see him cry, I am talking about the Jon Bon Jovi episode. I hope they are only holding off so that everyone can sing 2 Bon Jovi songs, best episode ever.
