Before you read any further I should probably mention that I am putting AH+ to the test tonight.
I have already had a Bedtime Berry(my favorite flavor) and I have a Goodnight Grape waiting for me in the morning, but I will update you on the true powers of this Anti-Hangover beverage tomorrow. I am sure I will still need my typical Lo-carb Monster and V8 V-Fusion in the morning, but I have had quite a few adult beverages tonight, I have a fridge full of beer and a late White Sox game to keep me going so this will be a true test.
I should also probably mention that earlier tonight I was crying.
You see, I went to see Blades Of Glory tonight and during Will Ferrell and Jon Heder's first skating routine I couldn't stop laughing and I actually ended up wiping away tears at several points during the movie. While I don't think this is a movie I could repeatedly watch, it is hilarious and deserves at least 2 viewings. It also reaffirms my love for Pam!
Last nights episode of "24"(Monday FOX 8) was great. This episode pulled the old switcheroo so well, that George Costanza would have been proud. Dan said that this was one of the best episodes, and I have to agree. It was an action packed hour that showed the strength of several characters not to mention the intellengence of the writers. After an amazing start to this season I was starting to question the direction the show was taking which seemed to be following the same patern Tim mentioned that Jack was following, yelling then whispering then yelling again. This episode finally broke the pattern the show was stuck in and gives us hope that we can get a creative ending to the season.
I mentioned Jon Bon Jovi yesterday, and I found out today that he is scheduled to be a mentor on "American Idol" on May 1st. It should be a 2 performance night from Jordin, Melinda, LaKisha, Blake and either Chris or Sanjaya. I have come to terms with the fact that it won't be strictly a Bon Jovi theme, but we should hear some serious "hard rock" from the top 5. Also you can go here to hear Bon Jovi's new single.
While still coherent, I need to talk about baseball. I have already sworn off baseball several times this season, but I still love it. If you haven't already noticed it, I am a big Chicago White Sox fan, and speaking of crying, just the mention of the 2005 World Series causes me to tear up with pride. I was in attendance for Game 2 of the World Series and it was the best game I have ever been to, plus I actually saw Paul Konerko's grand slam unlike my friend Jim who was in the bathroom while I celebrated with his Dad and brother(thanks for getting me there Wendell).
But that was 2005, this is double 0 7. As far as I am concerned with the Sox, the season started on the day that Buehrle pitched(he should have been the opening day starter anyway) and they are now 3-1. The biggest thing right now is that they have gone into Oakland(where they won only 4 out of the last 27 games) and have played great so far(as of the 7th inning of game 2).
But the thing that got me thinking about baseball was the fact that my Comcast cable box told me today that I can get MLB Extra Innings this year and that I have it for free until April 15th. If you hadn't heard of all the controversy, DirecTV was going to be the exclusive carrier of the package that allows you to watch up to 60 out of market games per week. This outraged many people, including Senator John Kerry, because cable and dish network subscribers were going to be forced to switch to DirectTV. Somehow I missed the fact that InDemand reached an agreement with the MLB to carry the games on their cable providers. For the record I am glad that DirecTV wasn't allowed to be the exclusive carrier for the package(I said package) because #1 I don't have DirecTV and #2 not everyone can put a dish on their place.
I am glad that our senators are watching out for the little guys, but they seriously need to start focusing on real issues instead of baseball. First it was steroids, then the 200,000 people that were going to be affected by Extra Innings-gate.
I believe that Steroids, and specifically HGH, is a serious problem in baseball, but it is a problem that the MLB has to deal with not our government. Our government should be dealing with Global warming(this should be the #1 concern for EVERY politician right now), the bastards in the oil industry(if they get a tax credit just for ripping us off, why should I pay anything), the bastards in the current administration(Lies, Lies and more Lies) and the fast food industry/the sugar pushing Soda industry(the biggest factors causing America to be so fat). Sorry for the interruption, but Fuck the Oakland A's, the Sox record is now 3-2. I wish that we could hit the reset button(one of my favorite options in both video games and life) on the entire government and start over from scratch with everyone being held fully accountable for every action and dollar spent. But that is a dream that will most likely have to wait until 2012 when I will finally be old enough to be President, though I will be willing to wait until 2016 to give Barack 2 terms to take a crack at truly making a difference.
I love baseball, as I am sure many members of of government do, but it is just a game.
Focus people.
