Busy Night

Right now I'm watching the 2-hour premiere of "Drive"(Fox Monday 7) which looks to be a fun, but somewhat mindless road race show. The show is centered around a 40 team car race across the country where the winner supposedly gets 32 million dollars. Nathan Fillion(Slither and "Firefly) is great and immediately likable as the main character who is racing in order to get his kidnapped wife back. There are many great characters and there will no doubt be some intense action scenes, but the show also looks to keep us guessing all season. Although the setup is pretty standard there are several things we don't know; how everyone was chosen for the race or if they volunteered, if the race is real and who is running it, the backstories of most entrants and how long the race will be. After watching the first 2 hours, I think this will be an enjoyable fast paced show, that while on the surface appears to be a "popcorn" type show, it could use the slow reveal storytelling method to give a fuller experience.

"Planet Earth" continues on Discovery Channel tonight with Jungles and Fresh Water episodes. The entire series will be available on DVD April 24th, and on the same day the series will be released in the HD format on both Blu-Ray and HD DVD for $70.

Tonight on HBO we get the second episodes of the season for both "Sopranos" and "Entourage". Sopranos was a brilliant show for the first 2 seasons, but hasn't been able to come up with an entire season that is great since. Sopranos has been more promising than good for the last 3 years, they have wasted most of their time building up to a couple episodes or even just a few events. I thought that maybe the show just needed to know when it was going to end before the action could really pick it up a notch. But they have know for years that this is the final season and still they are setting up plot lines that they should have set up earlier. There are 7 hours left of this show, it is time to get moving.
Entourage on the other hand has easily been able to keep delivering great episodes and interesting storylines, all without losing focus while changing the direction of the show. All of the characters on the show are great, and the addition of Carla Gugino certainly will help with my enjoyment of this season. Both shows are available On Demand.

There will be another web only episode of "The Black Donnellys" available at 9PM on Monday. The show is also available on iTunes and is one of their top selling TV shows available. I believe there are going to be 3 more online shows, but without much support from NBC there isn't really definitive info available.

"Big Ideas For A Small Planet"(Sundance Channel) debuts this Tuesday, and is currently available for free on iTunes. Big Ideas is a part of Robert Redford's new programming block "The Green" which is the first programming to be dedicated strictly to the environment. The Green will be shown on on the Sundance Channel and will also be available on iTunes. The first episode of Big Ideas is titled Fuel, and deals with alternatives to gas and the people behind the push for these alternatives. Check out the Green Guide that they have put together especially the take action section, "Its not about sacrifice, its about change."

Sam Adams has put together a pretty cool list of food and beer pairings. You can choose what you are going to eat depending on your Sam Adams beer choice, or you can pick out a suitable beer depending on your course of choice. Sam Adams also came up with the new ultimate beer glass which can help you fully enjoy all of your favorite Sam Adams beers.

For a second last night (1.2 innings), I thought Buehrle was going to throw back to back no-nos. Still, a good game for the Sox -- they've played well in the clutch latey, yesterday's ninth inning excluded.
