I really didn't like "American Idol" not eliminating anyone this week, but I am amazed that they raised $60 million for charity.
If you hadn't heard, "in the spirit of charity" Idol decided to not eliminate anyone this week, instead the votes will carry over and 2 people will be voted off next week. There may be a case for shenanigans on this one too depending on when that decision was made. It makes sense that they wouldn't vote anyone off for a charity week, but it totally screws my Bon Jovi plans. Now there will be 6 performers next week which means instead of each contestant singing 2 awesome rock songs, we only get 1 each.
This was a great week of TV, and its only the first night of sweeps.
"Heroes" was fantastic and "Lost" was great this week, and both have a chance to be even better next week (judging from the previews for both, they will be battling for title of best episode of the season).
"Jericho"(Wednesday CBS 7) kicked up the action this week (with explosions, gun battles and torture) and promises a full on assault on Jericho next week.
On "My Name Is Earl", Earl went back to high school and it made me feel sorry for Jerry Casper and the torture he went through as a junior high art teacher. I hope you didn't miss last weeks Earl which featured a great performance by Norm MacDonald.
"Drive" is officially cancelled, but I think it is all due to a failed launch by FOX. It is one thing for FOX to kick off the season of "24" with 4 hours over 2 nights, where there are many fans that are already committed to the show, plus kicking off with 4 hours allowed them to fully establish the new season. But asking fans to take in 3 hours of a new show in 2 nights is just too much. They needed to spread out the premiere and replay it to allow as many people as possible to get in from the start of this very fun show (how FOX didn't piggyback the premiere with Nascar is beyond me-seemed like an easy sell to a large target audience). Another problem was the lack of internet viewing until after the 3rd episode had already aired. Not that it matters now, but I totally would have won that race.
